Hey hey! Happy Saturday - I hope you're allowing yourself to rest a little this weekend.
Can we talk about a certain kind of week? The kind where you post, you polish your LinkedIn profile, you tinker with the offer doc, you clear the inbox. You worked hard the whole way through. And then somewhere around Friday afternoon a quiet question shows up anyway: where is my next client coming from?
I have lived that week. Most of the consultants I love and respect have lived that week. So if it sounds familiar, nothing is wrong with you. You have hit a wall, and I can probably tell you which one. Most consultant hits the SAME FIVE at different points. Different industries, different offers, same walls.
Cohort one of the LevelUp Sales Incubator officially launched, and in our first office hours, smart accomplished people building real practices, some of the questions in the room were versions of a wall I have seen a many times. If you are building a consulting practice right now, I would bet money you are standing at one of these.
Stuck at the wall → One move through itWall one: you are busy, and nothing is converting.
Posting, polishing the profile, tinkering with the website. It feels like building a business. A full calendar and an empty pipeline mean the effort is pointed at the wrong thing. Content answers “is this person legit?” That is a checkbox, it can be done in one or two posts a week with recycled material. Clients come from conversations.
Wall two: you are building infrastructure instead of talking to people. The assessment, the course, the funnel. Here is the problem: early on, every one of those tools quietly tells a prospect “use this instead of talking to me.” Nail your offer in one-on-one work first, document what works, THEN productize.
Wall three: you shrink when you reach out. The email that radiates “if you’re not too busy, would you please help me.” Stop. You are a PEER to your clients. You are bringing a genuine exchange of value, and the person on the other side can feel which posture you chose before they finish your first sentence.
Wall four: you are tracking everything except the number that pays. One metric matters right now: how many qualified one-on-one conversations did you have this week. That number predicts your revenue. Nothing else on your dashboard matters until that is solved.
Wall five: your head is working against you. The narrow path of building your own thing will test your mindset weekly. The fixes are unglamorous and they work. A gratitude practice. A pre-call ritual that gets you hyped. Affirmations where you will see them. And an audit of whose voices you allow in.
What This Looks Like in Real LifeMonday morning, old pattern: draft a post, check yesterday’s impressions, tinker with the funnel, look up and it is noon. Full morning. Empty pipeline.
Monday morning, new pattern: one recycled post goes up. Two minutes on your proof points so you walk in tall. Then ten personal outreaches to people whose problem you solve, sent peer to peer. By noon you have done the only work that turns expertise into income.
→ Your Next MovePick YOUR wall. Just one. Then make the single move that matches it this week: cancel the content hour and book outreach, shelve the course build until you have buyers, rewrite one timid email as an equal, start counting conversations, or put one affirmation where you can see it.
Why This Matters
Hitting these walls does not mean you are failing. They are the standard toll on this road, and every consultant who is now thriving paid it. The difference between stuck and through is rarely more information. It is one honest move, made this week. Not sure which wall is actually yours?
Take the free LevelUp 360 diagnostic this week. It will show you where your funnel is leaking and which stage deserves your attention first. And here is my nudge to do it NOW rather than someday.
This week I am picking 5 people who complete the diagnostic and offering each of them a 1:1 call with me. We will look at your results together and map your way through whichever wall you are standing at.
