Have you ever gotten this email? "Dear valued client, I hope this message finds you well."
You knew in half a second no human wrote it. And if you are anything like me, somewhere in your gut you made a vow: my name will never sit on top of words like that.

That vow was my entire relationship with AI until very recently.

If you have been following along, you have watched me work through this in public, and you know I held the line hard.

An email to a marketing partner who is also my friend cannot land cold. Nothing flies off the handle without me. When you sell your expertise, your voice and your relationships ARE the business, and I was not about to hand those over.

So I did what a lot of us do. I kept AI at arm's length from anything that mattered, and I kept holding all of it with my own two hands.

THIS WEEK’S SHIFT: from protecting your voice from AI → putting your voice into it

There are two very different things people lump together and call AI. A helper answers what you ask and forgets you the second you close the tab.

A coworker knows you and remembers between conversations. Same underlying tool. The only difference is memory. A helper starts from zero every time. A coworker starts from you.

That "Dear valued client" email? A helper wrote it. A brilliant, well-read stranger doing its best for someone it has never met. It was not showing you what AI does to your voice. It was showing you what starting from ZERO looks like.

I had been guarding my voice by keeping the tool empty. An empty tool is precisely what produces the stranger-mail I swore off in the first place.

WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE IN REAL LIFE

Monica has a demo that settles this in about ten seconds. The same request, run twice. From a blank chat it comes back stiff, generic, could be from anyone.

Run the exact same request where the AI already holds a few lines about who you are, who you serve and how you like things done, and it sounds like a person.

It suggests the next step the way YOU actually work. Nothing about the request changed. It simply knew you.

The part I was protecting, the voice, the warmth, the judgment about which partner gets the warm hello, is the exact part a memory holds.

I still read every word that goes out. I always will. But I stopped confusing "keep it empty" with "keep it mine."

WHY THIS MATTERS

I spent a long time nervous with this stuff and using it in small ways, and the hesitation made sense: nobody builds a business for 25 years with their bare hands and then hands the humanity over to a machine.

Nobody should.

What I know now is that the choice was never framed right, and the people who figure that out first are going to have a very unfair advantage over the people still gripping.

That nervousness is behind me.

What is in front of me looks a lot like possibility, and I do not mean that flippantly.
